Welcome back to WSM!

    Well it's that time of year again.  Time to dust off the old backpack, remember that new locker combo and say a fond farewell to summer.  Before you get all sad and teary, there's is good news!  A new school year doesn't have to be all bad... it means the return of WSM!  Yay!

    We've got some great new things and the return of some favorites for you this year.  We're sleeker, softer, 2-ply, double-trouble, scratch n' sniff and more!  Here's what's brewing for this fall:

• Sr. High Weekly Meeting is now on Thursdays from 7-9PM and starts again on September 17th.  This change was made to accommodate the next item.  Our first discussion series is The Jesus Manifesto: the beatitudes as a way of life.
• Coffee Shop!  The as of yet unnamed Westheights Coffee Shop is on track to be done phase 1 by September 17th.  Located just on the left as you enter the main building, the coffee shop will be the new home of the Sr. High Weekly Meeting as well as a primary ministry of WSM.  If you're interested in serving coffee on Sundays, please email me [email protected]
• Jr. High Sundays starts on Sunday, September 13th.  Matt DiMarco is back and refreshed after a vacation in Antarctica, and is stocked with new games and snacks.
• Also on Sundays once again will be the Crash Space.  If you want to drop by the Student Ministries room anytime between 9:15 and 11AM, you can enjoy games, crafts, hanging out and beating me at Mario Party.  We look forward to hanging out with you.
• FLEX is taking on a new format this year.  Starting in October(Oct. 2nd), the first(1st) Friday of every month will be a time for you Jr. Highs to get out there and serve your community.  Check wsm.westheights.org for updates on times, as it will change based on the activity that week.
• We have tons of events planned for this year.  Be sure to keep checking wsm.westheights.org for the latest information and goings on.  Jr. High events will be the third(3rd) Friday of every month, and Sr. Highs will change depending on the event.

    You will notice that wsm.westheights.org has gotten a face-lift.  We want this site to be the continual hub of information and ideas in the life WSM, so please be sure to bookmark us and check it out often.  There will often be things you can only find on the site (such details for events, etc.) so be sure to check often.  You can post comment on most of the posts, as well as follow us on Twitter and facebook.  You can also get a TypePad Connect account, which will let you make a profile that is connected to your facebook account, and will give people information about you if you want.  Be sure to check out and join the facebook group.  Some new things to look for on the site are:

• Every Monday there will be a question or reflection from someone connected to WSM in someway.  Usually it will be something to change your perspective, challenge or encourage you.  Be sure to check it out.
• Wednesday is Hump Day, and sometimes you just need something to push you over the hump.  Wednesday will be a random thing, meant to make you laugh or just give ya a boost as you sprint toward the weekend.  Beware, who knows what could get posted!
• Every Friday, we'll be posting a fun game you can play over the weekend.  This will be called Friday Fun and could be a board-game, video-game, online-game or just a goofy one you can plan with friends or family.
• Sr. Highs, each week as part of our discussion there will be follow up stuff posted on the site the next day sometime.  If you want to get the most out of the discussion each week, go the site and be sure to read it.

    Gillian and I have been looking forward to this Fall all summer.  You are all banned for going to camp, as it makes us lonely :)  We're excited about what God has in store for each of us, and as a community.  Let the games begin!
